» Rachael9 - Anyone heard of it?

Hi. This summer I traveled through Austria on a Contiki tour and we stopped in Hopfgarten, which is apparently part of the country's largest ski resort area that is 7 towns large. Of course there was no snow when I went there, but it looked like it would be great in the winter. Has anyone skiied in this area? If I were to go back with Contiki, the package would end up costing me only about $100 per day and that includes lodging, some meals and a lift ticket. Doesn't sound bad to me, but I'd like your thoughts.

Thanks!

rachael,
sorry for the delayed response, have been traveling with limited internet access. can't say as i've been to or have any personal knowledge of hopfgarten. follow this link and you can see what the folks at ski-europe have to say about it: http://www.ski-europe.com/news/articles/...
the most important aspect is whether the resort will give you what you need: the kind of ski runs you prefer; the kind of nightlife you like; the ambience that appeals to you. look into those before you decide to go.

also, take note of the resort's elevation: the last two years have been tough ones in terms of snowfall for european resorts at lower elevations.

$100/day seems a reasonable price, but what about airfare?

best,
mk
