» Feature Writer Jennifer W. Miner - Segways - Awesome!

Awesome article about Segways! Wish I'd thought of it...There's about 4 Segway riders in my town, and it's so fun to see them gliding around, up a hill, down the road to town, etc. They aren't time-savers by any stretch (I bet our Extreme Sports writer, Jodi, could outpace one in a heartbeat). The Segway Store here does great business! thanks for another great article.

I saw my first Segway in Valdez, Alaska last week. Not a common sight. I wish I could have caught up with the operator. I would have bribed him to try it out. They look like great fun.

I've not ridden one yet, either, but I know many major cities have tour operators who lead Segway tours, and lots of places you can rent them. That's usually in major cities, though, like Paris and NYC. I always thought it was odd they didn't stick a little stool or seat on them. It might be a cooler option for older travelers who have a hard time doing a lot of walking, but are embarassed about getting a wheelchair or scooter.

I wonder if i could trade in my car for a segway. I only need it for in-town errands anyway. happy it's a thought.
