Shawnee Peak, ME, Non-Profit Days

Maine ski and snowboard resort Shawnee Peak raises money for charities by designating Thursdays as Non-Profit Days.

Each Thursday during the 2006-07 ski and snowboard season, Shawnee Peak donates 10% of its daytime lift ticket sales to a specified non-profit organization.

Shawnee Peak Ski Resort in Maine is offering skiers and snowboarders a chance to show their hearts are in the right place.

How?

Just show up to ski or snowboard on a Thursday.

Why?

Because every Thursday during the 2006-07 ski season, 10% of all Shawnee Peak lift ticket revenue will be donated to non-profit groups and charities.

Each participating non-profit organization is assigned to a specific Thursday. The organization receives space for a display, promotional consideration and, most importantly, 10% of the lift ticket revenue from ticket sales made between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

"We’ve hosted two Non-Profit Days to date and the response has been great!" says Josh Harrington, Shawnee Peak’s sales coordinator. "The non-profit group gets exposure and funds, while Shawnee Peak can showcase its exceptional skiing and riding to a whole new group of people."

Participating non-profit organizations and their dates are as follows:

  • January 4, 2007 - American Red Cross of Southern Maine
  • January 11, 2007 - Bridgton Hospital
  • January 18, 2007 - Woodfords Family Services
  • January 25, 2007 - American Heart Association
  • February 1, 2007 - Harvest Hills Animal Shelter
  • February 8, 2007 - Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southern Maine
  • February 15, 2007 - Center for Grieving Children
  • March 1, 2007 - Lakes Environmental Association & Loon Echo Land Trust to Benefit Pondicherry Park
  • March 8, 2007 - The Nature Conservancy
  • March 15, 2007 - The Iris Network

Go ahead—ski and ride for the cause of your choice. Or, better, for all of them.
