Rails to Riches Rail Jam at Vermont's Killingtron Resort to feature top riders in the east and $15,000 total prize purse

Killington Resort is set to host the second annual Rails to Riches Rail Jam featuring a $15,000 cash prize purse in conjunction with the K06 Summit December 2-3. Skiers and riders are invited to participate in the open jam format to be held on Saturday December 2, 2006.

The qualifiers will consist of a limited number of skiers and riders. The top male and female skiers and riders will advance to the finals. The qualifiers will feature riders in the morning and skiers in the afternoon. The venue will be set up on the lower potion of Highline, an easy walk for competitors and spectators from the K-1 Lodge.

"Last year's event drew some of the best skiers and riders in the East, proving to be exciting for both the competitors and spectators," said Josh Arneson, events manager for Killington Resort. "Look for an integration of more music and lights to create an even better event this year."

The finals will take place under the lights and consist of an hour-long open jam session while a bonfire burns nearby, followed by fireworks. Finals begin at 5:00 p.m. with fireworks slated to start at 6:15 p.m.

Registration will begin on Monday, November 20th at 5:00 p.m. and will be accessible online from www.Killington.com. In addition to reserved spots, registration is open to the first 25 skiers and first 25 riders.

Registration costs are $50 for men and $20 for women. The top prize for both male categories is $4,000, with $1,000 going to each of the first place women skiers and riders.

The Rails to Riches Rail Jam will be one of many events in Killington Resort's K06 Summit, to be held the weekend of December 2-3. Other events include a large demo tent village, Party at the Peak featuring a free screening of a new ski or snowboard movie and prize giveaways.
