Spain’s Val d'Aran, set high in the Pyrenees and home to the Baqueira-Beret Ski Resort, now has a new attraction—the Jeep® Baqueira Driving Academy. Offered in conjunction with the five-star La Pleta Hotel & Spa, the Jeep® Baqueira Driving Academy aims to teach guests how to maneuver in rugged mountain terrain. Guests get behind the wheel of a 4x4 Jeep and drive a one-hour course with an instructor, learning the proper techniques for driving in winter’s ice and snow. In summer, dirt trails provide the training ground for learning to safely maneuver while climbing and descending steep mountains. The Jeep Baqueira Driving Academy, located in the Aranese town of Arties, is Spain’s only school of its type. Academy sessions cost $77 per person. Winter rates for a superior room at La Pleta Hotel & Spa start at $318 per night based on double occupancy.
