Extreme Snowmobiling at Attitash

Okay, I know about skiing and snowboarding slopestyle. But snowmobile sled-style?
That’s a new snowmobiling competition for me.
But, apparently it’s not new at New Hampshire’s Attitash Resort, where the Red Bull SCS Sled Style Extreme Snowmobile Exhibition has been staged before.
On February 23, the event returns to Attitash.
"This show was incredibly well received last year," enthuses Krissy Fraser, Attitash communications manager. "Most people only think of snowmobiling on trails and through the woods—these guys take it to an entirely different level with their stunts. It's amazing to watch what these guys do on their snow machines. They’re pushing the limits in the sport of extreme snowmobiling."
Wait a minute...yes, I’ve seen this sled-style stuff at the X-Games.
Indeed, X-Games riders Heath Frisby, Jay Quinlan and Kourtney Hungerford, recognized as some of the best riders in North America, will perform at Attitash.
Beginning at 7:00 p.m., they’ll demonstrate 45 minutes of sprawling aerial jumps off two launch ramps set up in the Bear Peak base area at Attitash.
Jay Quinlan was the first sledder to stick a back-flip in competition. That was at the 2003 Red Bull Fuel + Fury, in Jackson, Wyoming. He then executed back-to-back back-flips at the 2004 event.

The show starts promptly at 7 p.m., but a barbecue will be set up on the Bear Peak deck, serving burgers and hot dogs beginning at 5 p.m.
The show will be augmented by D.J. Melee's, a selection of energy driven, funky bass oriented breaks and beats, mixes, and sound manipulation.
I’m not sure why anyone would want to do back-flips on a snowmobile, but this has got to be one of the cooler non-ski/ride events taking place at a ski resort. Check with Attitash for last minute details or lodging packages.
