A Goodall Christmas, Roy Goodall

Ski and travel photographer Roy Goodall combines his love for skiing, striking scenery and crisp photography in his unique Christmas and greeting cards.

Roy Goodall is a photographer by trade and a skier by avocation. And, while he often puts these two passions together for the benefit of newspaper and magazine readers, Roy’s come up with a unique way to meld these two passions.

Ski Christmas cards.

Seems that sometime around 1970, as he was bumbling his way through early career path meanderings, it was his mother who suggested he use his camera skills to create greeting cards. An acquaintance backed up the idea by helping him land outlets in a Mercer Island, Washington, gift shop and at REI and Eddie Bauer stores.

With that start, the Seattle-based Goodall turned to putting ski themes on Christmas cards, and a whole new specialty was born. Now, 25 years later, he still does the photo processing, layout and other basic work in his parents’ basement, while selling the cards on his website Goodallcards.com, at ski areas and in various shops.
