The entire Windham/Hunter area hails spring skiing and riding with deals, discounts and special events throughout March and into April.

Too few skiers and snowboarders realize that, statistically speaking, March is month with the most snowfall in most mountain regions.

That means that March often yields the best skiing and snowboarding.

It also mean that ski resorts go out of their way to lure snowsliders to the mountains in March.

Take, for example, the March Mountain Madness promotion that’s offered in New York’s Catskill Mountains from March 1 through April.

Of course, it includes skiing and riding at Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain, two resorts that sit just eight miles apart. It also includes up to 20% off normal rates for lift tickets.

But, as they say on TV infommercials, there’s more!

Discounts on lodging, dining and shopping, too.

Here’s how it works: Book a stay with any of the participating properties and you receive a March Mountain Madness card upon check-in. You use that card at dozens of businesses in and around Windham and Hunter to get your discounts.

To add to the value of this promo, the March event calendar runneth over.

Among the events:

Now, put those golf clubs back in the closet and go get on snow.
